Health Director

Wages Depending on experience; benefits commensurate after three-month probationary period
Hours 35 hours/week Monday to Friday 8:30 - 4:30 with some weekends and evenings
Start Date March 2, 2017
Reports to Lucy Gagnon, Executive Director of the Moricetown Band

Essential functions and responsibilities

  • Responsible for day-to-day operation of the Health and Wellness Centre, and manages all aspects of the mandatory and community health programs funded primarily through Contribution Agreements.
  • Provides leadership and direction to program managers and coordinators, staff, casual and project workers
  • Provides support to Chief and Council and liaises with the health and Wellness Committee in regards to government policies, strategies, regulations and legislation that could potentially impact the health of the community
  • Safeguards program accreditation by ensuring evaluation criteria is met and incorporated into all aspects of service delivery
  • Assumes all responsibilities and duties as may be required to ensure the health needs of the community are met
  •  

    Required knowledge and abilities

  • Graduation from university in a relevant field
  • Minimum three years related experience supervising the design, development and delivery of community health programs and services
  • Has excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • First Nation Health Manager Accreditation
  • A solid understanding of Wet’suwet’en culture, tradition and socioeconomic conditions
  • Current RCMP Criminal Record Check
  • Valid BC Class 5 Drivers License and reliable transportation

    Job Title Part-Time Recreation Worker

    Hours Four hours each day

     

    Duties

  • Take direction from inter-agency committee
  • Be available evenings and/or weekends and possibly during staff holidays
  • Assist Coordinating Committee with events such as Sports Days, Hallowe’en Party, Christmas Party and various other special events as directed by your supervisor
  • Be part of the Recreation Committee
  • Submit written reports to your supervisor on a monthly basis

    Qualifications

  • Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Food Safe certificate
  • Criminal Record Check
  • Valid BC driver’s license
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality is a must
  • Ability to work with children and youth of all ages
  • Ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently
  • Knowledge of Wet’suwet’en culture is an asset
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Good organizational skills
